Scott began his Lutheran faith journey at an early age, attending Northlake Lutheran Church and Apostles Lutheran School throughout his childhood. He is a graduate of West Leyden High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois Chicago. Following college, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard Reserve, where he proudly served for six years.

He later earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Dominican University and a Master of Arts in Education Policy and Leadership (Type 75) from Governors State University. He brings more than 23 years of experience in education and school leadership. Throughout his career, he has taught at Plainfield South High School and Plainfield North High School, served as a Special Needs Administrator in District 158, and spent nine years teaching 8th-grade special education with an emphasis on mathematics at Marlowe and Heineman Middle Schools. He also previously served as Principal of Saint Luke School.

In addition to his educational leadership experience, Scott has an extensive coaching background. He has coached Track and Cross Country at Saint Luke and has also coached football, baseball, and wrestling throughout his career.

Scott and his wife, Kari, have lived in Itasca for the past 15 years and are active members of Saint Luke Church. They have two daughters who attend Saint Luke School. Maya will be entering 7th grade, and Blake will be entering 5th grade. As a family, they enjoy spending time together, staying active, and traveling.

The most rewarding aspect of education for Mr. Francis is building meaningful relationships with students and watching them grow into confident, curious, and lifelong learners.
